What is in the future to earn big bucks?

Many times I have asked, what is there to make a difference - or making the money?

Recently, I conducted a 3-day career camp for my son and 3 other kids. All of them just completed middle secondary school - Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent of G.C.E 'O' Level. One of them asked me real difficult question. Seriously - what would make big money!?

And, I was really stuck in my mind for 2 reasons.

First, I was no doubt unhappy with such a question as this kid is just playing naughty with me? For nobody should judge the career with how much money it makes!

Secondly, I was unable to really give a good answer! For, nobody really knows the future!

Therefore, I gave a real down to earth answer. I confused him! I said, depends on what you mean by big money, is it a few thousands a month salary, or a few millions a year's revenue? What amount is a happy 'big money' for you in your career? And, he just repeated the question - what would make big money?

I even gave the example of artists, scientists and teachers who do not make lots of money, but are happy with what they do daily. Somehow, he did not seem to be impressed! Well, kids nowadays, you don't know what they want!

Over time, I threw back the same question to myself - being nearly half a century into living! And, I dare say that I don't know the answer.

May be there is no such career! No job is worth tens of millions! It is a team of people, not a single person.

You see, the youngsters are equating the riches with Bill Gates, the IT geeks! So, may be the way to make a real good career as well as big bucks - it is software!

Okie, if it is software, what software?

My take is the application software in smartphones. These are like WhatsApp, CandyCrush, etc.

So, there is a big image file which summarizes the different applications developed today. Here it is - for your thoughts and imaginations.

I am sure some of these Apps are not making small monies. They are probably in billions or millions of annual revenue.

So, smart kid... may be to make real big buck, you should be a developer for these Apps!
